Jennifer Morrissey, chief information officer at Oswald Cos. and Unison Risk Advisors, was named among 23 Notable Executives in Technology by Crain’s Cleveland Business.
Morrissey has been breaking barriers and leading transformational change throughout her career. Since joining Oswald in 2016, her efforts have been the driving force behind Oswald reaching $93 million in annual revenue. She credits this milestone to using a three-prong approach to strategically alter the company’s technology.
First, she modernized technology, which drives profitable growth and efficiency. She enhanced the client digital experience to better enable Oswald to engage clients and creates value. Finally, she used data analytics to provide insight-driven risk management advice.
Morrissey transitioned Oswald’s data center to IaaS and SaaS to optimize costs and performance. She upgraded and expanded an Enterprise Data Warehouse to boost speed and agility in accessing information, making Oswald a leading insight-driven agency. During the pandemic, she utilized SaaS to transition employees to 100% remote work.
Her efforts enabled Oswald to expedite its digital client experience with self-service client portals, automated calendar scheduling, Life software and digital marketing summaries. She improved carrier connectivity, quality management and automation of accounting, all of which significantly increased the speed and agility of back-office functions.
Working with the firm’s marketing and communications team, Morrissey co-championed a Digital Sales Ecosystem for Producers, a portfolio of tools to acquire prospects, convert to valuable clients and create long-term loyalty.
However, Morrissey doesn’t limit her expertise to office applications. She reaches out into the community to help others reach their potential.
Morrissey provides guidance to other women in the insurance industry and is a senior advisor and mentor on Oswald’s Women’s Leadership Council. When asked how she cracked the glass ceiling of the male-dominated insurance industry, Morrissey says: “I didn’t know there was a glass ceiling.” However, her focus is on helping others be prepared to face similar challenges.
She serves on the board of directors for Junior Achievement of Greater Cleveland, giving young people the skills and knowledge to own their economic success, plan for their futures, and make smart choices. She is also on the Board of Directors for MTech Capital, a venture capital firm investing in technology companies operating in the insurance industry.
Morrissey frequently presents at leadership, women’s and trade events. She led Oswald to earn the 2019 Vertafore Champion Award for outstanding achievement in automation, advocacy, leadership and service.
She received the 2021 Smart Women Award in the Progressive Women category from Smart Business Northeast Ohio magazine.
